About

Richard Kerry BSc Hons

MANKIND Massage Therapy began in October 2018, providing holistic massage therapy exclusively for men - operating from a private residence in Skelmanthorpe, Huddersfield. MANKIND also provides a mobile service visiting clients and covers Kirklees, Calderdale, Wakefield & Barnsley. Our aim is to provide accessible therapeutic massage to men, using a holistic approach to treat clients.

Following voluntary redundancy from Higher Education in 2017, I embarked on a Level 4 massage therapy course. Having benefited from personalised massage therapy to treat stress and anxiety, I was keen to learn the skills and take my career in a whole new direction. My approach is to talk with clients, listening to their needs and looking at them holistically to tailor the massage sessions. I also use feedback from your body during the massage to help guide me and to influence appropriate aftercare and future sessions needed.

The power of touch has many benefits; so, whether you are experiencing muscular pain/discomfort, reduced mobility, difficulties in relaxing, trouble sleeping, raised anxiety or stress – MANKIND Massage Therapy can tailor sessions that are right for you.

Experience

Holistic Massage Therapy

Undertaking a 12 month course in Holistic Massage Therapy gave me the opportunity to develop new skills to help others tackle issues such as muscle tension, stress, sleeplessness, anxiety and fatigue. Enabling clients to reconnect with their bodies, allow time out to just be still, helping to relax and ease aches and pains, whilst calming the mind and body.

During my study, I took the opportunity to travel to Kerala, South India; learning the principals of Ayurveda and its application in massage - some of these techniques may be incorporated into my massage practice.
